Jazmin and Frances's Platinum Prints for a Gallery Show! Plus, Some Printing Tips

I will be showing two platinum prints at the Harvey Milk Photo Center in San Francisco as part of their member exhibition, which runs from August 17, 2024 through September 28, 2024. I recently made the prints, and they are GORGEOUS – some of my favorite prints to date. I made a video of the whole process, including a little bit of problem-solving that you might not know about if you haven't made a lot of platinotypes. Normally, my prints don't exceed 8x10 (the size of the biggest film that I use), but I decided these images would benefit from enlargement.

Some technical stuff: Jazmin's portrait (two captures) was taken on an Intrepid 8x10 camera using a Zebra half frame dark slide (zebradryplates.com). Frances's portrait was taken on a Mamiya RZ67. All three captures used a single Paul Buff Einstein with a softbox. The chemistry I'm using for the prints is from Bostick and Sullivan; their platinum printing kit comes with instructions for making digital negatives (which I followed almost to the letter) and drop counts that served as the basis for these prints, although I did do a little math to figure out the amount I needed for the big print.
