Native American Flute - Playing with full expression or ‘on the edge’

This week we take a little look at one of my recent recording and then I attempt to brake down my overall approach to this piece of improvised Native American style flute playing.

I’m trying to express myself fully and get as much as I can from the flute rather than playing it within its sweet spot.

I like to call this ‘playing on the edge’ and find it very satisfying.

Like with anything, you learn the basics, the rules, but then you can brake them with an understanding or a foundation of knowledge, feel, experience so that you still holding the flutes voice, you’re still kind of in control, know where it’s going, making sense of it.
