The air on Mustafar is a furnace. Rivers of fire boil and roar, spitting sparks into the sky as if the planet itself mirrors the fury of two men locked in combat. Obi-Wan and Anakin move like shadows of the same flame, one measured, controlled; the other wild, unstoppable. Their sabers clash again and again, sparks scattering across the black rock. Obi-Wan strains, his breath ragged. Every stroke he parries feels heavier than the last. Anakin’s blows come down like thunder. Obi-Wan leaps to the high ground, his chest heaving. He levels his blade, voice trembling with resolve.
Obi-Wan: “It’s over, Anakin. I have the high ground!
Anakin: It is far from over, Master!
Obi-Wan: “Enough, Anakin! She’s going to die… and her blood will be on your hands. Think about her, think about your children. Stop for once.”
Anakin: “Liar! You twist everything, just as they did. You want me weak, broken, begging!”
Obi-Wan: No, Anakin! I want you to stop this madness and come home with me…with her.
Anakin: “I can’t. I have to stop her death. I can stop everything. Why won’t you let me?”
Obi-Wan: “Because you are blind! You think power is love, but it will consume you…and her! Sidious! He is playing with your feelings.”
For a heartbeat, silence hangs. Lava bursts behind him as Anakin glares upward, chest heaving like a cornered beast. His body convulses, light ripping through his skin—the Force unbound, raw and terrifying.
Anakin: “You underestimate me, Master.”
He launches upward with terrifying speed. Obi-Wan meets the strike but cannot hold it. The impact sends him reeling, his arms shaking under the force. Another blow follows, and another, until Obi-Wan’s defense cracks. Anakin’s saber slices across his arm, tearing flesh and sending him sprawling onto the black stone.
Obi-Wan cries out, clutching his wound. His saber clatters against the rock, its light flickering weakly beside him. He looks up at Anakin, who looms above with eyes burning gold.
Obi-Wan: “By the Force… you’ve surpassed us all.”
The roar of engines cuts through the chaos. A sleek shuttle descends through smoke and fire, landing on a blackened ridge. The ramp lowers, and Palpatine steps into the inferno, robes trailing like the wings of a vulture. His face glows with anticipation, his voice thick with satisfaction.
Sidious: “Exquisite… the Jedi were right to fear you. Even Kenobi, one of their greatest servants, lies broken at your feet. Strike him down, Lord Vader. End him, and together we will sweep aside all weakness. No council. No decrees. No chains but the ones we forge for others.”
Anakin: “Why should I trade one master for another? The Jedi demanded my loyalty. Now you demand the same.”
Sidious: “Do not mistake me for them. They gave you restraint. I give you dominion. They denied you power. I offer you the keys to eternity itself. Without me, she dies. With me… she lives, and the galaxy bends at your command. That is no servitude, Lord Vader. That is freedom.”
Anakin: “No. You’re nothing but another jailer. And I will not bow.”
His saber snaps up, striking with unrestrained fury. Sidious barely blocks, his own blade erupting with a crimson hiss. The clash is apocalyptic. Lava spits high into the sky as if recoiling from the titans who wield the Force like gods. Anakin drives forward with raw strength, his attacks wild but overwhelming. Sidious counters with precision, his mastery flowing like poison. Lightning crackles across the battlefield, bolts slamming into molten rivers and exploding rock.
Obi-Wan drags himself backward, bloodied, watching the duel with horror and awe. His former Padawan is no longer the boy he trained, he is a force unto himself, something beyond Jedi, beyond Sith. Sidious laughs, even as he strains under the blows.
Sidious: “Yes… unleash it! Let hatred guide your blade! Show the galaxy the true power of the dark side!”
Anakin: “I will not be your pawn. The Jedi used me, and now you would do the same.”
Sidious: “Fool! Without me you are nothing! I am the keeper of power itself…through me, you will command life and death!”
Anakin: “No. My fate is my own. I will bow to no master… not Jedi, not Sith!”
Anakin presses forward, each word a hammer with every blow. The storm intensifies. Obi-Wan shields his eyes from the light, the air vibrating with power.
