Police Report: On 08/23/2023 at approximately 12:17 AM, I was moving radar northbound at mile marker 312 when a 2-door, blue Subaru bearing Florida tag #L9BLW was traveling in the inside lane and failing to maintain its lane of travel. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, at which time I estimated the vehicle’s speed to be 100 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone. I activated my Stalker Dual Radar (Serial #040400) and it contained a clear and concise audio Doppler sound with no radio frequency interference at 100 miles per hour. The vehicle was traveling in a reckless manner with a wanton disregard for the vehicles surrounding it.

It should be noted the vehicle had clear indications of issues, including a taillight that was out on the rear left side.

I continued northbound on Interstate 75 to mile marker 314 to exit the Interstate and conduct a U-turn to attempt to overtake the reckless vehicle, at which time I activated my lights and sirens. I then continued southbound on Interstate 75 until reaching the Hernando County-Sumter County line at mile marker 305, at which time I had a clear visual of the vehicle.

I continued to overtake the vehicle with my lights and sirens activated in my clearly marked Florida Highway Patrol vehicle. At this time, I was behind the vehicle at a high rate of speed and paced the vehicle at 132 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone in my Dodge Charger (VIN #2C3CDXATXGH126461) on Interstate 75 southbound at mile marker 302. At this time, I initiated a pursuit in my marked patrol vehicle with my lights and sirens activated. The vehicle continued to flee and attempted to elude me. The vehicle then continued south on Interstate 75 and exited at mile marker 301 onto State Road 50.

The vehicle then conducted a right-hand turn at a steady red signal, failing to stop before conducting the turn. The driver almost lost control of the vehicle while making the turn, and then continued westbound on State Road 50.

At this time, I accelerated closer to the vehicle and put myself into position to conduct a PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique). I conducted the PIT maneuver, at which time the defendant's vehicle became immobilized, and the driver/defendant was arrested and identified by his Florida Driver’s License as Edward Jason Real. The defendant was then informed of his charges.

At this time, the defendant was taken to the hospital for medical clearance, and Bravera Health Brooksville medically cleared the defendant. I then transported the defendant in FHP 1569 to the Hernando County Detention Center where he was then turned over to the Hernando County Detention Center.

2. RECKLESS DRIVING 1ST OFF - MISDEMEANOR
