🔶 What is Heterotrophic Nutrition?

Heterotrophic nutrition is a mode of nutrition in which organisms cannot prepare their own food and depend on other organisms (plants or animals) for their food.
👉 Humans, animals, fungi, and many bacteria follow this type of nutrition.

🔶 Types of Heterotrophic Nutrition

1️⃣ Holozoic Nutrition
In this type, organisms ingest solid food, digest it internally, absorb nutrients, and remove waste.
Example: Humans, dogs, amoeba
2️⃣ Saprophytic Nutrition
Organisms feed on dead and decaying matter by secreting digestive enzymes outside the body.
Example: Fungi (mushroom, bread mould)
3️⃣ Parasitic Nutrition
Organisms obtain food from a living host and harm it in the process.
Example: Cuscuta, tapeworm, lice

🔶 Steps of Nutrition in Animals (Holozoic Nutrition)

1️⃣ Ingestion
Taking food into the body through the mouth.
2️⃣ Digestion
Breaking down complex food into simpler, soluble substances using enzymes.
3️⃣ Absorption
Digested food is absorbed into the bloodstream through the small intestine.
4️⃣ Assimilation
Absorbed nutrients are used by cells for energy, growth, and repair.
5️⃣ Egestion

Removal of undigested food from the body through the anus.
