In the sport of cricket, Mankading (named after Indian international Vinoo Mankad) is the informal name given to running out the non-striking batter whilst they are backing up, which is when they begin to leave the crease while the bowler is in their final delivery stride.
After the never-ending debate around the do's and don't of the "Spirit of the Game", the International Cricket Council (ICC) declared to move "Mankading" from the "unfair play" section to the "run out" section with effect from 1st October 2022.
Deepti Sharma was into her delivery stride when she caught England batter Charlie Dean backing up too far and whipped the bails off.
