Exploring a Huge Underground Copper Mine - The Odyssey Mine

In this video, we explore a massive copper mine that produced over 200,000 tons of ore through its life. I have struggled to find much information on this site, but the mine appears to have been worked up until the 1910s before being abandoned. It is unclear if the mine was intermittently worked after this time or not.


In many parts of the video, you will notice the magnificent blue colors of the copper ore present in this mine. You will also see some of the massive open stopes where much of the ore was removed. Unfortunately, due to the easy access of this site, very few artifacts remain. This is becoming all too common in the desert mines that used to be so well preserved. You will also notice other obvious signs of frequent visitation such as graffiti and modern trash.


This is another site that would be worth revisiting with rope gear. There are a number of leads in this mine and at the surrounding mines.
