This video argues that the Monolith actually is a Bow that goes BEYOND THE INFINITE. This in contrast to Rob Ager's straight conception of the Monolith, which results in the INFINITE (feedback loop). Therefore, this video is a reconsideration of Rob Ager's video 'The Meaning of the Monolith Revealed (2014 update)'.

In 2001, the Bow-theme is very obvious. There are countless references to the Bow(-theme). For example: Bowman's helmet visor resembles a Bowed Screen (and not a Straight Screen). The doorways and picture frames inside the Hotel Room, also make reference to the Bow, as they are not (totally) Straight but Bowed.

Kubrick said that in 2001 'the message is the medium'. Here, the message doesn't EQUAL the medium (literally). The message is from another level than the medium. Therefore Kubrick's phrase has to be understood in a BOWED way, not a STRAIGHT way.

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is meant to be viewed on a CINERAMA screen which is a large and deeply CURVED screen.

Ager's assertion that the monolith of 2001: A Space Odyssey represents the cinema screen (tilted on its side to look like a doorway) has proved to be one of his most popular videos. Dan Leberg of Georgetown Univerity published a paper objecting that the theory was first espoused by Gerard Loughlin, though the article supplies no evidence that Ager had plagiarized Loughlin, being that Ager's video essay on the topic is more in depth than Loughlin's and provides further comment on how such interpretation impacts the rest of the movie as a whole. Jay Weidner has also claimed to be the originator of the monolith / screen interpretation. It may be that all three sources reached similar conclusions independently.
