"Ornette Coleman (Fort Worth, March 9, 1930 - New York, June 11, 2015) was an American saxophonist and composer, considered the father of the free jazz movement. From the very beginning, Coleman's musical style and way of playing proved quite original because his approach to harmony and chord progressions was also much less rigid than that of bebop jazz players; he drew interest primarily in playing what he heard around rather than pigeonholing his creativity into predetermined harmonic structures."

"Prime Time was a band formed by Ornette Coleman in 1975. featuring two electric guitarists, two drummers, and occasionally two electric bassists alongside Coleman's saxophone. The band utilized Harmolodics to create their music. They earned comparisons to Funkadelic and Parliament."

"Harmolodics is the musical philosophy and compositional/improvisational method of jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman, whose work following this philosophy during the late 1970s and 1980s inspired a style of free-thinking jazz funk known as harmolodic funk. It is associated with avant-garde jazz and free jazz, although its implications extend beyond these limits."
