It's opening weekend of the 2022 Nebraska turkey season. We head east to hunt some public land with our bows. We have hunted several pieces of public land in this area before but switch it up and hunt a new property. In part one of this hunt, we get on a group of turkeys right off the road after we found a lot of turkey sign the day before. We get set up in the dark really close to the roost and hope we can pull in a tom to the decoys. After striking out on the first group of birds, we head to a spot where we heard a bird gobbling that morning. We walk and call trying to strike something up and as we get to our last ridge we hit the call and a group of toms gobbles right over the next ridge. We quickly find a setup and it doesn't take long before we see tails fans headed out way!
