"Don't Explain" is one of many showstoppers of Ms Diana Ross concerts of recent years. It's the only song from her #1 best-selling soundtrack album, "Lady Sings The Blues," that she continues to sing and for good reason. It's a moving, emotional song that allows the audience to just sit and listen. No screaming, no dancing, no loud singalongs. It's just her and the music that puts her audience into a hypnotic trance that transcends time. I got so wrapped up capturing this song that I didn't know where I was half the time, to the detriment of guitarist, Michael Seacrest. I zoomed out at one point and left him out of the picture. Then when she was introducing some of her band members...I zoomed in on her musical director, C. C. Thomas instead of "Sweet Michael," as Ms Ross would refer to him on stage. That's what happens when you are capturing the moment thru the lens of a pocket camera. So, my apologies. Other than that, Diana Ross is angelic, spontaneously joyful and in perfect vocals. This song is never tiresome or lifeless. Sometimes I wish she would throw in a little Good Morning Heartache, God Bless the Child, The Man I Love or My Man, because, personally, I don't want this stolen moment to end. I know...don't explain.
