Welcome to the fourth episode of the Loopy Pro Artist Spotlight: a series where I sit down with the artists shaping the future of live looping and electronic performance.

Inkie is one of the most original voices in looping and beatbox. A world-class performer, innovator, and long-time member of the Swiss Beatbox crew, he’s been pushing the art form so far the scene had to invent a new “producer” category just to contain him. He’s also been part of the Loopy Pro story from the very beginning, and has continued to blow my mind ever since.

In this deep-dive conversation, Inkie takes us through his journey: from discovering beatbox through Police Academy and Fruity Loops, to becoming Russia’s Looping Champion and placing second at the World Championships in Berlin. We talk about how he built his signature “Keep It Strange” performance, his discovery of the Line 6 Helix (which went on to become a scene standard), and how Loopy Pro transformed his creative world.

He walks us through his evolving workflow: from the RC-505 to an all-iPad setup powered by Loopy Pro, two iPads, a keyboard, and a drum pad, showing how he constructs both his compositional looping and freestyle looping systems. Along the way, he shares gold for live artists: managing CPU and thermal issues on iPads, building reactive templates, designing tactile setups, and why retrospective recording changed everything.
