USIP's Gordon Lubold sat down with Adamu Garba Laka, a lieutenant colonel in the Nigerian army, to discuss the importance of negotiation and communication skills training for peacekeepers. Laka participated in a U.S. Institute of Peace training workshop as part of the U.S. State Department's ACOTA training program for African peacekeepers. Laka was at the U.S. Institute of Peace headquarters in Washington, DC, in May, 2012, to participate in a class on preventing electoral violence in Africa.
