So, watch yourselves! If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then, if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive." Luke 17:3-4


Praise the Lord, for he is full of compassion, ready to pour out grace and mercy upon those who love him. May all God's children listen to his words of wisdom and treat others with love, forgiving them as the Lord teaches us.


Lord, I repent for the times that I withhold forgiveness. I repent for closing up my heart and not allowing love to flow all the way through it to those who have offended me. And sometimes Lord, it's not just one person, sometimes it's a whole group of people and they don't bring out the best in me so help me Lord to forgive them so that I do not become hardened and full of hate.


Thank you, Lord, for reminding us of the importance of forgiveness. And also the importance of repentance. We must repent when we have acted against your will, been unloving, vindictive, and hateful in any way. And Lord, help me to take it one step farther. Because there are people who have greatly offended me who are not asking forgiveness, but help me to forgive them anyway because they are hardening my heart, and it doesn't feel good. And sometimes, I don't even realize it until it is pointed out to me. So thank you, Lord, for reminding us that we must forgive again and again and again, even though it's hard and even though it hurts sometimes. Forgiveness is for us, not for the other person. It heals us, not the other person. So help us to forgive Lord when we have been offended so that sin does not thrive inside us. Thank you, Lord, for instructing us and teaching us how to be loving  even in the most difficult situations.


All praise and glory and honor to the Lord God Almighty, who forgives our sins as we confess them for he is full of mercy and grace and his steadfast love endures forever. All these things, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and all to the glory of God. Amen.
