Overwintering My Banana Plant in PA, Zone 7A

Описание к видео Overwintering My Banana Plant in PA, Zone 7A

How to overwinter a banana plant:
1. Remove pups/plant offshoots;
2. Remove leaves;
3. Cut stem down leaving 2-3 feet;
4. Wrap remaining stem well with fleece (2-3
yards should do the trick) down to the base,
hold with twine, string, or strong tape- don’t
forget the top of the stem (I used faux snow
fabric available at Walmart this season)
5. Repeat with a black construction grade
garbage bag to keep out moisture (optional:
place freeze bag over black bag for extra
protection)
6. Pour mulch on the surrounding ground and
around stem’s base for added insulation
(optional: add banana leaves atop mulch
for extra layer of protection)
