RQD in Geloogy: RQD and core recovery with interpretation

Описание к видео RQD in Geloogy: RQD and core recovery with interpretation

Rock Quality Designation (RQD) is a measure of the quality of
rock core taken from a borehole. it signifies the degree of jointing or fracture in a rock mass measured in percentage.

Pieces of the rocks whose length is less than 10cm are not considered for calculation of RQD.

RQD is defined as the sum of the core samples having a length greater than 10 cm (100mm) divided by the total length considered. RQD value is calculated in percentage.

RQD of 75% or more shows good quality hard rock and less than 50% show low quality weathered rocks.
RQD is used to evaluate the quality of rocks such as degree and depth of weathering, zones of rock weakness, and fracturing.
This information is used for determining the depth of foundations, bearing capacity of rocks, settlement, and sliding possibilities of foundations. in the mining industry, it is used to determine Fracture and jointing, for better mine planning.
