After making the first video of the motorized tuning, while investigating possible reasons that it was not working very well, I found a (well-hidden) paper capacitor that I had missed in the motor control circuit. This proved to be very leaky and 100% high of its marked capacitance value. Changing this out did improve things, but I think it is still not performing as it should. I also changed out a small (selenium or metal oxide) rectifier in the motor control circuit (replaced with a silicon rectifier), but this made no difference. Next, I will be checking resistor values (I have already checked/replaced tubes). Of course, it could be an alignment issue in the auto-tune circuit too.
