The two airplanes arrived in Athens on 10 August 2021 late night, as RFF-8311 (RA-78831) and RFF8313 RF-78805. Both based at Athens airport, using taxiway B for parking. Water refill performed by two 20 ton water trucks.

This was the second time the specific Russian aircraft type operated in Greece for fire fighting. The first one was 22 years ago, on July 1999, when another similar airplane operated at least on two fires in Greece, using Elefsis airport as base.
That plane was RA-76429 (1043419639) Ilyushin IL-76TD Russia - Ministry for Emergency Situations (MChS). Photo on the video by Alex Filippopoulos.

This waterbomber aircraft is a 1.5-hour install/removal tanking kit conversion on a Ilyushin IL-76MD aircraft. The project was unveiled in 1990.
