Actress Mel Harris may have only appeared in two episodes of STARGATE SG-1, but her role is pivotal to the show's Ancient mythology: Oma Desala, an ascended being who helped Daniel Jackson to ascend to a higher plane in "Meridian" ... then was later revealed to have a disturbing connection to the show's Big Bad, Anubis.

In this clip from Mel's appearance on "Dial the Gate" she talks about how she ended up in the role, learning about the character (who was played by a different actress when Oma first appeared in Season 3's "Maternal Instinct"), and delivering Oma's obscurely philosophical dialogue.
