Written by Steve Habib week;s after having a major Heart Attack and 4 vessel open heart surgery at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Serious Illness was overcome by his passion for music as a drummer,pianist,bassist and composer. Steve wrote :Life Has No Color" as a prayer for everyone in the world to simply have compassion and love each other as the prejudices in the world are ignorance and not about LOVE and Living Life which has NO COLOR. Listen to the words of Dr. Marvin Smith and listen to The Masters who performed this song. CeCil McBee won a grammy a few years before this recording for "TRIBUTE TO TRANE" CD with Roy Haynes on Drums and Dave Liebman on sax. Kirk Lightsey did a great job on the piano swinging so hard along with Marvin and Cecil. Jim Finn brought such a spiritual light to the front melody line and the capturing of the spirt by engineers Jon Rosenberg and Tom Tedesco was amazing. Visiones was a few hundred feet from The Bluenote on McDougal St. and has since disappeared and like many Jazz Clubs have vanished just like The HalfNote,Sweet Basils and others. Jazz today, in2012 has changed from the days that I grew up with it and more of the old days of Jazz Traditions need to be posted so I am in the process of putting up more of these wonderful clips.

June 7th,1992 was the last night of a 3 day performance of Dr. Marvin Smith's group The Experience. All three days were done with college students of Jazz Music in mind. Students from The New School For Jazz, The NYU Music Student Department and Faculty of The New School Jazz were available and many actually attended all of the performances including some of our close friends like Arnie Lawrence(RIP) and Reggie Workman and so many others as this entire project was a not for profit event and to use all content, songs included for the purpose of teaching. Dr. Marvin Smith was also an adjunct professor at the time of this video series along with several of the other performers. Under copyright law, the use of any material here was under "FAIR USE" and complies with the 4 sections determining "FAIR USE" for educational purposes.
