Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is one of the earliest institutions which was converted into the league of the IITs in the year 2001. Earlier, the institute was known as the University of Roorkee which was established by the British in the year 1847 by the name Thomason College of Civil Engineering. IIT Roorkee is an autonomous institute which is recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and it is spread across 365 acres of campus land.

IIT Roorkee is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India contributing in the technological education and applied research, it has completed more than 170 years of existence helping a lot of students in realizing their dreams.
