Ice against Ice, polearm against polearm, will against will. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

Strategy & Commentary:

Needless to say, this is a fight where we brush up against IBR's limitations. The class's prospect of a crutchless clear is slim to none, yet this particular matchup has still attracted some intrigue, namely because JEX is a fight that is not only 1) modern but 2) very difficult and still allows for a full Curse*. It's not all easygoing for IBR though, as once she reaches 50%, she purges all effects on her in addition to setting our HP to 1, meaning we won't be able to use Curse for half the fight. With everything just said, it's clear that while this fight will be tough, we can do it.

Context aside, IBR actually handles Phase 1 and Phase 2 of JEX better than one might expect, which is quite a boon given that we can't use most of IBR's skills. Our shield, while small, has great uptime, and we can reliably shield Jaania's Soulpuppets and Frozen Fates, only relying upon Cysero's Hammer and BPD + All stack to minimize crit RNG (it can still screw you over, though). While we can't fully negate her boost, Chains also helps with some of the beefier attacks as well. We slowly grind JEX down to 50% HP, and then things kind of go off the rails from here. In addition to some poor play on my end (mistimed a shield, forgot about using Curse for a few turns, and other things I missed), we can no longer avoid both Soulpuppet and Frozen Fate, which is the main reason why IBR can last so long without being seriously threatened in P1 and P2 in spite of its poor sustain and abysmal dmg output. We hang on for dear life, though, and we eventually succeed, harrowing as the experience may have been.

As far as post-clear commentary goes, I do think that optimizations can made. Better play in the second half is an obvious one, but I definitely could've utilized Chains and Chill more (the former to blunt nukes, the latter to take some of the edge off of Soulpuppet). With all of this taken into consideration, I do belive that it's possible to shave off an HP pot with fully optimized strategy, maybe a food item if you get very good rng.

*For the record, IE and NA also allow for a full Curse (good luck with the latter lmao), and Suki in SSEX can get a mid-level Curse.
