🍮 Parippu Payasam (Moong Dal Payasam)
This festive dessert is a rich, creamy blend of roasted moong dal, jaggery, and coconut milk – made effortlessly with MAGGI Creamy Coconut Milk Powder.

Ingredients
• 1 cup moong dal
• 4 cups water
• 2 cups jaggery
• ½ cup water (for jaggery syrup)
• 2 cups thin MAGGI Coconut Milk
• 1 cup thick MAGGI Coconut Milk
• 5 cardamom pods, powdered
• 1½ tsp cumin powder
• 1 tsp dry ginger powder
• 2 tbsp ghee
• ¼ cup dry coconut (copra), chopped
• 30g cashew nuts
• A few raisins

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. In a pan, dry roast 1 cup moong dal. As it starts to change color, remove half of it. Continue roasting the remaining till golden brown.
2. Combine both portions again, wash thoroughly, and cook in 4 cups of water until soft and water is absorbed.
3. In a separate pan, melt jaggery with ½ cup water to prepare a syrup. Strain if needed and add it to the cooked dal.
When you make coconut milk from scratch it takes 20 minutes to complete the process. With MAGGI Creamy Coconut Milk Powder, it just takes 2 minutes to make the perfect coconut milk.
4. Stir in 2 cups thin coconut milk made with MAGGI Coconut Milk Powder and mix well.

With MAGGI Creamy coconut milk powder I can make coconut milk of any thickness I want, using it in stews, curry and payasam.

🥥 To make thin coconut milk: dissolve 4 tbsp MAGGI Coconut Milk Powder in 2 cups warm water.
5. Once well combined, pour in 1 cup thick coconut milk and turn off the heat just as it starts to boil.
🥥 To make thick coconut milk: dissolve 4 tbsp MAGGI Coconut Milk Powder in 1 cup warm water.
6. Add cardamom powder, cumin powder, and dry ginger powder.
7. In ghee, roast copra, cashews, and raisins until golden, and mix into the payasam.
Serve hot and enjoy this traditional Kerala delicacy!
