Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Draw-Tite Class 3 two inch hitch receiver. Adding a two inch hitch receiver to the back of your Mustang Mach-E is gonna allow you to haul different accessories, whether it's a bike rack or a cargo carrier, you can even pull small trailers with this. You just want to be sure that you're within the weight capacities of your vehicle before you start doing that. Having a two inch hitch receiver on the back of your Mustang is gonna be one of the best options that you can have when you're trying to haul different accessories. Trying to put stuff on the roof of the Mustang Mach-E is not super easy 'cause it sits a little bit higher off the ground.

So if you slap a bike rack or a cargo carrier in the back here, it's gonna work out really, really well for you. With it being that 2 inch by 2 inch hitch receiver tube opening, that's gonna open up your options for all the accessories that you could imagine. Our safety chain loops here are gonna be for if you decide to tow a trailer, you can safely get your trailer safety chains hooked up to it. You can see we have a clevis style and an S Hook style. They both fit great on there.

Our hitch pin hole is gonna be a 5/8 inch hitch pin hole to hold your accessories in place. If your accessory does not come with one we do have locking and non locking hitch pins like this one on our website. Now some measurements for you so you know how it's gonna fit on the back of your Mach-E From the center of our hitch pin hole to outermost part of our bumper is about 3-1/2 inches. You use that measurement when comparing it to accessories that fold up to the back of the vehicle. Or in a case of a hanging bike rack that just fit on the vehicle, you want to compare that to the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the accessory.

Compare that 3-1/2 inches. That will tell you whether or not that accessory's gonna fit on the back of your car or whether or not you'll be able to fold it up. I can tell you at 3-1/2 inches you're gonna have a good chance of most accessories fitting pretty good on the back. From the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube, it's about 11-1/4 inches off the ground. That is a measurement that you want to keep in mind when having an accessory on the back here.

Your vehicle will tend to sag a little bit. The more and more weight you put on the back of the hitch, you wanna be sure that the accessory doesn't drag on the ground when you're going in and out of a steep driveway or a street. So just be cautious being at 11 about 11 inches I would definitely look for accessories that have a pretty substantial rise in the shank. You should be able to get away with a cargo carrier that has a two inch rise, just as long as you don't load it up with too many heavy items so that your vehicle sags a lot. But other than that those accessories should work just fine on it. Now as far as weight capacities go, you're gonna have a max tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. Any max gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds, that is the trailer plus a load included. You will want to check with the owner's manual of your Mach-E to be sure that your vehicle can handle those amounts of weights and if it can't, you want to go with the lowest weight capacity between the vehicle and hitch. This install is really not too bad. The one thing I would recommend if you're doing it from home on the ground is I'd recommend backing the vehicle onto a set of wheel ramps to be able to get yourself a little bit more room underneath to work. But other than that it's just really removing the underbelly panel and then running your hardware through the frame rails and then lifting your hitch up into place. You will have to trim a pretty substantial piece out of the back bumper, but you're gonna have to do that with any hitch that's gonna fit the Mustang Mach-E 'cause it's kind of a sealed unit under there. So in order to get a hitch receiver tube to pop out of there, you have to cut a hole. So with that being said, let's go ahead and show you how to get it installed. To begin our installation, we're gonna have a lot of 10 millimeter screws here on the bottom that we need to remove. We need to get this panel off of here, so we'll just go all along the edge. There's gonna be a few push pin fasteners in the middle that we'll also have to release. (drill grinding) For our push pin fasteners you'll take a flathead screwdriver or a trim panel tool. You're mor
