Dayton Democracy Summit: What's Democracy Got to Do with Our Lives?

Описание к видео Dayton Democracy Summit: What's Democracy Got to Do with Our Lives?

The most basic idea of democracy is about people, together, shaping their lives, communities, and world. While voting, elections, and government things are part of democracy, it is even bigger than that. Democracy is also about what happens in our homes, on our streets, around kitchen tables, at work, and in schools. It is about working together with our neighbors and standing up for what is fair in our everyday lives. Inclusive democracy means that all people belong, everyone is equal, and everyone should have a say in our communities, states, and nation. This panel discussion is about making sure we remember that democracy is about our everyday lives and about the power we have as people who care about things like decent housing, good jobs, mental and physical health, schools, and putting food on our tables. Democracy is not some abstract concept “out there” but it is for people like us. Democracy and power belongs to everyone.
