USS Saratoga CV 3 - "The Definition of Resilient"

USS Saratoga played a pivotal role in the evolution of naval aviation for the United States Navy and throughout her career she served as a vital component of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Nicknamed Sara, Sister Sara, and the Sara Maru, she was the 5th vessel in the history of the United States Navy to bear the name of the famous Revolutionary War battle that resulted in the surrender of an entire British army that was attempting to invade New York from Canada. She helped to hold the line during the early days of the Pacific War, and despite suffering significant damage on multiple occasions, she always made it back to port safely which earned her the reputation of being a lucky ship among her crew members. After the war, she was used as a target during the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Bikini Atoll in 1946, where she ultimately met her end.
