2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.4 - Battery Drain/Dead Overnight - Common Draw for Lancers

Описание к видео 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.4 - Battery Drain/Dead Overnight - Common Draw for Lancers

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer 2.4 where the battery dies overnight. In this video I go over some of my methods for hunting down parasitic draws. I have a nice low amp clamp with a wide jaw that I can fit easily around multiple battery cables. Check for active fuses by doing a voltage drop across the terminals.

Unfortunately the nice chart that PowerProbe had for translating fuse voltage drops to actual current doesn't seem to be on their website anymore but I did find a copy at this link below. Hopefully it's good for a while.

Once I find which fuse(s) is active and verify it's the majority of the draw I then go through the Power Distribution wiring diagrams and look to see what it powers. From there it's process of elimination. Unplug them and see if the draw goes away.

In this case the problem was with the Bluetooth Hands Free Module. I have encountered this before on these cars and a quick look online shows it to be a very common problem.

You just have to be mindful of a few things when doing draw tests.

1) If you have an older car then start by making sure the interior light rheostat is not clicked all the way to "always on" position...

2) Normal computer modules can take up to 30 minutes to go to sleep

3) Try to disturb as little as possible. If you accidentally "reset" the problem then you might not be able to get it to act up again without having to give it back to the customer until it acts up again. Major inconvenience for all...

4) Disable door ajar switches. Unplug them if there are external switches. If not then just use a screwdriver to close the door latch.

5) If a computer module is drawing power then keep in mind it may only be the symptom. Sometimes an input can keep a module awake and replacing that module will not fix the problem.
