In this video we will show you the 220 years old Mankera Fort which is situated in the Thal Desert who was constructed by the last Muslim ruler of Mankera, Nawab Sarbuland Khan Sadozai in 1804 of his rule. The construction of this fort was completed in 1816 after his death. The site of the fort has historical significance dating back to 540 CE, when Raja Mal Khira of the Mal tribe established the Mal Khir Kot fortress which later evolved into Mankera. Now this fort has been deserted and is presenting a view of ruins. Now the tomb of Nawab Sarbuland Khan Sadozai, a historical shrine, a graveyard, forest of thick trees and an old well is also present here. In ancient time people came here to commit suicide. In 1821, Maharaja Ranjit Singh besieged this fort and this besieged continued remained for 25 days but the Nawab Hafiz Ahmad Khan refused to surrender. After 25 days the Army of Maharaja Ranjit Singh a shell fired from the Zam Zama cannon which hit the tower of the Mosque and the tower was martyred. Nawab Hafiz Ahmad Khan was offering Tahujad prayer at that time he did not understand this attack a good the omen and after counseling with his companions he surrendered. Like this, the fort had conquered by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Maharaja Ranjit Singh changed the Jamia Mosque into stable of horses and he settled here Hindus after driving out the Muslims. He constructed a Hindu Temple here. The shell remained here till 1970 than after 150 years it was shifted in Lahore Museum. At last in 1947 this Mosque was martyred purpose to give extension. The area of this Mankera fort was 50 acres. The width of the walls of this fort were 20 feet and thickness were also more than 20 feet. This fort had 4 doors and a tower having more than 45 feet height was also constructed here. A ditch was also included in the original design of this fort which had 40 feet width and 15 feet deep. Along with 12 wells and the orchards of fruitful trees were also present. This fort was completed in the period of 14 years. Firstly the name of this area was Kot Manak which deteriorated and became Mankera. Once upon a time this was a big state and the Present districts Mianwali, Khushab, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ismail Khan and Bunnu. This is that head of land which was include by different rulers in their rule which was Aryan, Egypt, Iranians, Greeks, Arabs, Rajpots, Balochs and Pathans. Alexander the Great which is known as Sikandar-e-Azam had also passed through from here. The Mankera city is the biggest Tehsil of Pakistan also today in terms of area. Ever the area of this state Mankera was 42000 square kilometers. Small and big 12 to 13 forts were constructed inside this fort which were used for the residence of Royal family. There is also a tomb which is called that this is the tomb of Mughal Emperor Shah Shujja. This prince got fame in the name of Baba Noor Qalandar Badshah after his death. The tomb is situated in the middle of the fort. There is also a well which is called the well of Noor Badshah Qalandar. According to a tradition this well is 700 years ago. The centuries oldest this Mankera Fort has the ability to become a tourist place but due to the negligence of higher authorities this fort is rapidly becoming extinct. If the government do not give proper attention to this fort than the signs of this fort disappear soon and this fort become the part of past. It will be mentioned only in books. If we do not look after this historical heritage than the coming generations will not forgive us. I hope you will like and enjoy this video.
