On March 08, 2024, a handful of loaded grain cars derailed on the Kankakee, Beaverville, and Southern Railroad Lafayette Line at State Road 26 in West Lafayette, Indiana. I took the opportunity to check things out and see what I could capture. KBS 701 (GP38M-2) and KBS 702 (GP38M-2) were stationed right on the Newman Road underpass, so I got some footage of the engines idling on the bridge, which was pretty cool. The westbound approach to the State Road 26 railroad crossing is proceeded by a steep incline and decline, so for better warning, there are flashing yellow lights on the railroad crossing advance warning sign. I filmed these, as I think they are cool. I also filmed both sides of the State Road 26 railroad crossing and the derailed cars, which were laying just off of the crossing. I finished off by getting more footage of the advance warning sign on the westbound approach and even got some footage of the one on the eastbound approach. This was filmed starting at 6:16 P.M. ET.
