Another Patreon request here submitted by the ever-growing VGM powerhouse and general good boi that is Ro Panuganti, a deep cut from the Kingdom Hearts II soundtrack and an additional track featured on the Final Cut edition of this game “Fate of the Unknown” which plays during the legendary secret ending!

Was surprised to receive this song in particular to cover as I was not familiar with this composition initially however the positives of doing these Patreon requests is to discover new tracks from video game OSTs which could also become potential obsessions. Had fun with turning the original composition on its head in several sections throughout this arrangement, the main highlights being the intro and outro. Taking the opening choral passage from the original and making an eccentric 11/8 riff was an interesting decision as it veers away from how it is performed in the original that it’s almost jarring, intentionally hitting you in the face with this rather whacky riff. The outro is the same melody from the intro but over a 9/4 pull-off pattern that was exceptionally fun to write. Exploring some delay options during the calm break section is another aspect of this cover I’m pleased with, implementing a mixture of different delay and reverb types to establish a tonal shift in the arrangement.
