WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THIS VIDEO: My ferret fully recovered from the flu on the video and continued to have a happy life. Somewhere after the age of 5, she started to develop heart problems (cardiomyopathy), later also adrenal problems (losing fur) and an aggressive type of skin cancer (fibrosarcoma). With medication she managed to live another few years. She passed away at the age of 8,5 (pretty nice age for a ferret).

Ferrets are unfortunately very prone to cancer and health problems after the age of 5. The types with long fur are especially prone to health problems due to overbreeding. This is made even worse by irresponsible unregistered breeders, so be aware of them.
