The Caribbean is not a single destination but an archipelago of more than 7000 islands, so David jumped at the chance to board Emerald Sakara for a cruise to some of the ultimate hot-spots. Each day was a new adventure and Virgin Gorda, one of the British Virgin Islands was no exception.
At a lookout in Devils Bay National Park, David’s guide Jelani explained the island's focus on conservation. From there they followed a trail down to the awe-inspiring ‘Baths’, where huge granite boulders lie in piles on the beach, forming scenic grottoes that are open to the sea. Swimming here is a definite highlight for visitors, and a welcome sight at the end of the hike.
From the beauty of the British Virgin islands Emerald Sakara travelled southwest while guests enjoyed the onboard amenities, including the Aqua Cafe and infinity pool on deck 6. The next day they anchored at St John in the US Virgin Islands. The island has 38 beaches, with Trunk Bay being
rated one of the best beaches in the world!
Back on board David chatted with some of the guests who agreed that every day of the cruise so far was a well-crafted blend of exploring the islands on adventurous excursions and relaxing in the luxurious amenities of the yacht. While every meal of the journey was a highlight, the buffet lunch spread was always something to look forward to, and always had a great view!
For water lovers like David, Emerald Sakara’s fabulous marina deck, where guests can swim, snorkel, paddleboard, kayak or even try out a Seabob, is the ultimate! The suites are impressive too, most with step out balconies, they are as luxurious as accommodation at sea can get. If you want to splurge, David suggests booking the Owner’s Suite, the largest on board, with a separate lounge and huge private terrace to admire the ever-changing scenery.
The next leg of the journey was west to Puerto Rico, a United States territory. On Vieques Island David had a guided tour of the relaxed town and some of its beautiful beaches. You might head to the Caribbean to relax, soak in the sun and not do much of anything at all! However David promises that the culture will infuse your soul, and the rhythm of the Caribbean will take over!
