Описание к видео 123. Drawing an 8-point star using LibreCAD

In this video, I will show you how to draw an 8-point star using LibreCAD. I was inspired to make this video after seeing another YouTuber make an 8-point star out of wood (wall art). So many comments on that video asked about plans for the star so I decided to make a video showing how you can make your own plans for a similar star using LibreCAD.

I started using LibreCAD when I needed a way to draw AND print my designs to scale. This allows me to make templates which can be accurately printed on paper. The paper template can then be glued to a piece of wood and the design cut out. The template can also be copied directly to the wood using carbon paper. Designs can include many parts so the possibilities are truly endless!

If the viewer is brand new to LibreCAD, I suggest watching an earlier video I created which introduces the new user to LibreCAD and the basics of how to use it. Here's the link:

I also have a playlist with all of my LibreCAD videos; here's the link:    • LibreCAD

LibreCAD is a free, open source CAD application that can be run on Windows, Apple, and Linux computers (I am running the Windows version.). There is a lot of free support and program documentation that can be found online. There are also several YouTubers (like me!) that have produced videos about this program and often answer questions from users and viewers.

LibreCAD is just one example of a successful open source program that I use; there are many others. As an example, I also use OpenOffice ( https://www.openoffice.org/ ), a suite of programs similar to Microsoft Office. Blender ( https://www.blender.org/ ) is also another free and open source application that includes everything needed to draw and animate in 3D. (Some users have created their own animated movies using Blender!)

As you'll see, I tend to use LibreCAD as a computerized pencil and paper. In other words, I tend to think while I draw. When I start drawing, I only have a general idea about what I want to create.

There are many, many different ways to use this program including ways to use Layers to make backup copies of earlier design versions and work on drawing modifications on another layer. I have videos on my LibreCAD playlist that show how to do this.
