Underground Resistance was more than a group—it was a bold creative statement. Founded in Detroit by Mike Banks, Robert Hood, and Jeff Mills, Underground Resistance, or UR, emerged in the early '90s in Detroit’. With minimal public personas and a commitment to DIY ethics, they challenged industry norms while shaping a sound that continues to influence techno globally. After Hood and Mills departed in 1992, Banks carried the vision forward alongside a rotating lineup of collaborators, keeping UR at the forefront of underground electronic music.

Network Records, based in Birmingham, England, played a vital role in bridging the emerging UK rave movement with the deep sounds of Detroit techno and Chicago house. Active from the late 1980s through the mid-’90s, the label helped introduce key artists—like Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and early UR releases—to a new European audience.
