The establishment hosted high-profile boxing matches and concerts, and was frequented by a slew of stars; Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Barbra Streisand, Aretha Franklin and Mick Jagger were all guests there
In 1990, Japanese high roller Akio Kashiwagi lost $10 million in a baccarat session at the complex; the event was later fictionalized in the 1995 movie Casino
On Wednesday, crowds gathered on the nearby beach and cheered as the structure was reduced to a pile of rubble
The land will now be sold off to a real estate developer; Mayor Marty Small says he hopes to see a 'family entertainment venue' created there
