This winter we worked harder than we ever have with the goal of making 2026 our best year yet. We increased our number of rides, time on the bike and climbing by almost a third and our distance by almost two thirds. And based on our first race of the season, it looks like it was paying off, with double wins and an 8 minute course PR for me and 15 minute PR for Syd. We were super excited and were looking forward to carrying this momentum into the true start of the season, a trip to New Zealand where we’d be racing two very different races, the Trans NZ Enduro Stage Race and the Volcanic Epic XC Stage Race.

And then Syd got hit by a car.

Now, we’re in limbo. Will Syd be able to go to New Zealand at all? If so, will she be able to race either, neither or both of the races?
