Today I have another album review for you. It is for the band Horrendous and the name of the album is “Ontological Mysterium” released on August 18th 2023 through a season of mist records. This is a band that has been getting a lot of buzz lately and it was also the second most requested album review from the poll I put up and it is one of those albums everyone is talking about, saying how crazy it is. So I'm going to talk about my thoughts on this. It's my first time listening to this band and stick around to the end because I'm going to talk about a few more albums that I listened to this weekend that just came out.
We can barely believe the time has come to finally unveil Ontological Mysterium! An indescribable amount of determination, suffering, joy, and love went into this record: from the the first seeds of writing in early 2019, through periods of extreme rethinking and revision over the pandemic lockdown, to the adrenaline-fueled, highly experimental, and at times circus-like recording sessions. We feel that this is the most "Horrendous" album yet - the one that best distills who we are and celebrates how far we've come on our continuing musical journey. Our creative potentials are on full display, without fear. We truly hope that you enjoy OM, and that it breathes some unbridled wonder into your life as you traverse this precarious world.
Thank you to Brian Smith and Alex Brown for their incredible artwork; our label Season of Mist; Mike Wohlberg for the album layout and endless support; and to everyone who has supported us - friends, family, and fans alike - who have helped make this newest vision possible.
