Like the engineered wood flooring line seen in this video. In this application, the customer already had an ABB robot, so we repurposed it for this new line. We designed the conveyors, engineered the robotic tooling, and integrated it into another system that we built. In doing so, we created a continuous line that worked without human intervention.
The system was designed so that the robot automatically detects any downstream line stoppage and continues to pick up panels and stack them into units to be re-fed back into the line once the downstream starts up again. This makes a buffer so that the upstream processes can continue to run and ensure a high production and efficient operation for our customer.
