Chandrasekhara Saraswathi, also known as Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal or the Sage of Kanchi, was a prominent spiritual leader and the 68th Jagadguru of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. He was born on May 20, 1894, in Viluppuram district, Tamil Nadu, India.

As a young boy, Chandrasekhara Saraswathi displayed exceptional intelligence and a deep interest in spirituality. He was initiated into sannyasa at the age of 13 by his guru, Sri Mahadeva Sastry, and was given the name Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi. He spent many years studying the Vedas, Upanishads, and other ancient Hindu scriptures.

In 1907, at the age of 13, Chandrasekhara Saraswathi was appointed as the head of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, one of the most important Advaita Vedanta monasteries in India. He served as the Jagadguru of the Peetham for over 87 years, until his death in 1994.

Throughout his life, Chandrasekhara Saraswathi worked tirelessly to promote the values of Sanathana Dharma, including compassion, tolerance, and the pursuit of spiritual knowledge. He was known for his erudition, humility, and simplicity, and was widely regarded as one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the 20th century.

In addition to his spiritual pursuits, Chandrasekhara Saraswathi was also deeply committed to social causes. He spoke out against discrimination and inequality, and worked to promote education and healthcare in rural communities. He was also a prolific writer, and authored numerous books on spirituality, philosophy, and Sanathana Dharma.

Chandrasekhara Saraswathi was widely revered by people of all faiths, and was awarded numerous honors throughout his life, including the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award. He passed away on January 8, 1994, at the age of 99, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, compassion, and spiritual insight that continues to inspire people around the world today.
