Lower..lower Clear Creek - Urban paddling kind of adventure-ish Dipshittiry

Gritty Urban Paddling adventure at its Finest. Paddling Clear Creek from Golden to its confluence at the South Platte River

For some reason I’ve wanted to paddle my packraft down Clear Creek all the way to the Platte River, crazy I know and it is a bit of a push. However, It was totally worth it. To at least see it once and realize it has potential as an outdoor urban micro-adventure really opened my eyes to the possibilities around me. As a weekend warrior it is easy to get hung up in the city and pissed off at not being able to get out as far as I want. This kind of outdoor dipshittiery is like a kind of wilderness practice and it satisfies some primal urge to go out and explore. The municipalities could do a better job so perhaps with enough boating traffic they will pick up on this. So go out and paddle this creek, give it some love, raise awareness of this diamond in the rough.

The run is 13 miles and I stop about 25 times. It was early July @ 675 CFS, O.A.T was 93F. Since I've never seen much of this I wanted to be very carful, especially since I was paddling alone. Because of this I ran out of time and had to come back and finish it up a day later.

I will say there are some real hazards and I do my best to show you where they are. While I did a lot of portaging I think you could paddle more of the whitewater than I did if you had a crew. The hazards are wood, low head dams, bridges, trash and Giardia.
