Hello Everyone, The U1 is operated by Metroline West from Uxbridge [UX] Garage using E200 Darts as well as ADL E200's & E200MMC's. However, DD's such as occasional E400 Tridents and Gemini 3 B5LH's can sometimes find their way onto this route. It goes from Ruislip, W. Ruislip, Ickenham, Uxbridge, Brunel Uni, Hillingdon Hospital, Yiewsley and then W. Drayton Stn. I've always wanted to do a DD U1 FRV on an Ex-FLN E400 Trident, but catching it had always been of a set back challenge, despite Ruislip being a close commute:

The 1st attempt began in Jul 2022, I was on the 114 towards Ruislip to catch an SN09 TE, and then a collision happened along Victoria Rd. They closed the area & there was no way to go around. So I had to walk back from Torcross Rd all the way to S. Ruislip to use the Central Line to W. Ruislip - just so that I can catch it and do a FRV towards Ruislip instead. I then managed to catch it midway and when it stopped at Ferrers Ave in W. Drayton, the bus terminated. This was at the time when they just started to divert routes and everything was just confusing. So I didn't know what was going on nor where to catch the U1 at the first stop towards Ruislip. So it took me a bit of time to get off the bus and when I did, the driver starts shouting at me as to why I hadn't gotten off the bus. Then, it subbed... 🤦‍♂️

The 2nd attempt was in May 2024, with a LK60 TE. I instead used a train from Harrow to Ruislip quicker if need be. However, the train ended up being held because there was stupid mini-fire on the tracks at Rayners Ln even after 15 mins, so I just left.

So this time around, I woke up extremely early and took the bus to Ruislip 30 mins b4 it even ARRIVED at Ruislip. And finally, I got a visual on an E400. The journey was bad. Both drivers were sluggish on hills & they didn't apply much kickdown. Also in Ickenham, some people (separate occasions) started speaking LOUDLY on the phone and were swearing a lot which I was extremely annoyed about because I wanted to complete a full journey of this route without people swearing. He only got off at like Apple Tree Ave in W. Drayton so about 70% of the Full journey, is him yapping and to make things worse, he was sat on the front seats on top deck, but across to the left. This person actually took the piss and then there were kids on the bus screaming also.

The driver change was surprisingly moderate, I didn't crop it out because it only lasted 3 mins & 20 seconds. Well in Aug 2022, the route was rerouted towards W. Drayton direct via Belmont Rd in Uxbridge, not serving Bakers Rd and Uxbridge Stn; so now it goes straight down Belmont Rd. Now, onto why it didn't go the full length:

West Drayton's Bus Section has been "allegedly" shut since 2020. The U1 bus actually stands there so why can't the route go all the way there then??? But no, they have to full on change the iBus to "Yiewsley" because of some collapsed carriageway. Meaning that people have to inconveniently walk from the stops b4 or after if they want to go to the station. No information has been provided by TFL about when this will end because this has been a nuisance and is the reason why I've been delaying the filming of this route. But when I saw that these SN09 TE's are in their last days in London, I just had to get it done before they get withdrawn as the route alongside U2, U3 & U4 will be receiving EV's later on this year. The route almost merged with the U3, but thankfully that didn't happen.
