Looking for some world-building advice as you prepare to write your novel? Students from Novelly will share some of their favorite world-building tips and approaches. While this webcast will focus on young writers, the advice and discussion is applicable to every writer.

About the Interviewer:
Anna Gabriella Casalme (she/her) is the proud daughter of Filipino immigrants and is dedicated to designing youth-driven learning experiences. She is the founder of Novelly, a nonprofit on a mission is to publish literature by diverse youth authors and get youth authors taught in every 8th to 12th grade English classroom, so that every student can feel seen and inspired by what they read in school. As a Rotary Scholar and a Scottish Saltire Scholar, Anna completed an MSc in Childhood Studies at the University of Edinburgh. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Human Biology and honors in Education from Stanford University. She is on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in Education for 2023.

About the Panelists:
Isla McCullough (she/her) is a First-Year at Oberlin College. She has been telling herself stories for as long as she can remember, and reading for even longer. Her passion for climate action came more recently however, when Greta Thunberg started the global climate strikes. McCullough got the idea for this novella from a dream years ago and is super thankful to finally have the opportunity to write it down.

Chase Kim (he/him) is a sophomore at Yorba Linda High School in Yorba Linda, CA. Chase writes to inspire understanding between people and believes in the power of stories to create change in the world. When he's not writing, you can find him trying recipes from around the world, tending to his vegetable garden, or attempting to teach his dog new tricks.

Ace Bell (he/him; they/them) A.M.B. is a young, aspiring author who has been pursuing writing since they were a child. Growing up in Southeast Michigan, A. M. B. has been awarded multiple times locally for their works in poetry, short stories, and essays. The valedictorian of their senior Class of 2023 at Romulus High School in Romulus, Michigan, he is now pursuing a Bachelor of Psychology with a double minor in Creative Writing and Gender, Race, and Nation at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Being non-binary and African American, A. M. B. has overcome many adversities in life and has made it their goal to help end stigmas, spread awareness, and make healthcare more accessible for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC persons. In their free time, they enjoy cooking, writing, reading, and spending time with their loved ones.
