Several oil tankers were attacked by unidentified armed individuals along National Highway 37 in Manipur’s Tamenglong district on Tuesday morning, resulting in damage to at least four vehicles and injuring one driver.

Sources told EastMojo that miscreants fired at the oil tankers at around 9 AM at Tolen Kuki near Kaimai under Tamenglong district, approximately 160 km from Imphal and 60 km from Jiribam.

Among the vehicles targeted were three oil tankers and a truck carrying LPG en route to Imphal from Jiribam.

Tularam Magar, a driver from Irang Part II of Noney district, sustained a bullet injury to his right foot during the attack. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Security forces have been deployed at the site, and an investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

In the aftermath of the incident, long queues of vehicles, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers, were observed at petrol pumps in Imphal.

This surge in demand is attributed to concerns over a potential cease-work strike by transporters along the highways in the state.

However, as of the time of this report, no official confirmation regarding the strike has been provided.
