There are many instruments that ribbon mics and condensers both excel on. One of the most common questions we get is which type of mic should somebody use. We love ribbons and condensers on many of the same instruments and it can often be a tough choice. It comes down to how you want your art to sound. Both options sound great, especially on drums- they’re just different.

Condensers have a focused sound and extended top end. Ribbons capture an instrument with some of the natural reverb and tone of the space. They have a smooth and colored top end.
