The Government has just released the latest figures on the number of cases. A total of 319 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 9am today - an increase of 46 since the same point on Sunday

More than £130 billion was wiped off the value of top shares in early trading in London and the day has already been dubbed 'Black Monday' by traders.

In the last few hours the government has announced the UK is remaining in the "containment" stage of its response to the coronavirus.

The decision was made following an emergency Cobra meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.

Ireland's Six Nations rugby match in France on Saturday has been postponed, following an earlier decision to postpone England's match in Italy.

The Foreign Office has now advised against all but essential travel to areas in northern Italy that are currently under isolation.
