Freedom to breathe - children call for their right to clean air

Children around the world should be able to breathe clean air. It is a life essential that is vital to children’s physical and mental development, their health and ability to fulfil their potential. Freedom to breathe is an international campaign which empowers young people to jointly call on the United Nations to acknowledge their right to clean air. The campaign educates children in schools on the importance of breathing clean air and what they can do to minimise their exposure to common sources of harmful pollution. In 2021, over 29,000 children (supported by 62 civil society organisations, academics and businesses) joined the campaign and representatives presented to the UNCRC - asking them to acknowledge their right to clean air.
