PDMU 2022 Accomplishments

The Department of the Interior and local government, Zamboanga Peninsula, has been steadfast in its efforts to strengthen and establish effective and valuable locally funded projects for local government units through the Project Development and Management Unit.

With the Unit's desire to streamline and expedite project development, PDMU has consistently held quarterly consultative conferences to address issues and concerns in project implementation, as well as to discuss vital information in program status and planning.

These effective communication planning meetings have also been used to address backlogs and tailbacks at some problematic local government units and contractors. Constant monitoring of infrastructure projects has been pursued with the technicalities of the regional and provincial engineers.

Based on the Regional Project and evaluation system, there are a total of 37 Local projects completed in Support to barangay development program, 26 completed projects under Financial Assistance to LGUs (FALGU), and 50 projects completed in other locally funded projects based on SUBAYBAYAN portal in 2022.

Similarly, numerous problem-solving sessions with LGUs have been held in order to accelerate the implementation of slow-moving projects. The management has also held a series of capacity development, orientation, mentoring sessions, and focus group discussions with local government units, educating them on mitigating problems and discussing projects being raised in their localities.

Through the efforts of PDMU; The DILG Region 9 was the first in the department to be granted by the Professional Regulations Commissions as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider in engineering-related programs. The engineers in local government units will be equipped and enhanced in their technical aspects when implementing projects in their jurisdiction, Now Capacity Development Activities will have CPD unit points for engineers in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The unit's efforts also resulted in the completion of the long-awaited home for Zamboanga del Sur personnel, the two-story office building located in Dao, Pagadian City. The new structure represents new beginnings and a continued commitment to providing high-quality public service to the local government units.

These innovations has resulted in improved report submission with timeliness and accomplishments. Above all, PDMU is doing everything possible to provide quality service with utmost dedication and perseverance. The unit has integrated values of transparency and accountability into all LGUs' project implementation. Inconsistencies are determined to sustain and successfully achieve the Department's goals and objectives, that we must all believe in one another.
