American Judoka: The Colton Brown Story

This short piece features Colton Brown, produced in partnership and with consent from Colton Brown and his family. Colton is a retired, two-time US Judo competitor who now trains members of the junior world team for US Judo.

Colton’s father saw judo as a way for Colton to expend some excess energy, gain focus and defend himself. Colton at first hates judo until he begins winning. His father explains to him that in order to continue to win, he would have to work harder than other children.

Guided by his family to live and train with the strongest competitors in Japan, he went on to compete on the US Olympic team. Along the way, he faced challenges both on and off the mat that helped shape who is today.
