Ode to humanity

Few composers represent the humanistic idea of Europe as expressively as Ludwig van Beethoven. In her cross-border concert project BABY DOLL, the FAUST winner Marie-Ève Signeyrole interweaves Beethoven’s 7th symphony with Yiddish klezmer music by the French clarinetist Yom, lets women who have fled tell their experiences, and oscillates fluidly and transdisciplinarily between symphony concert, dance performance, video installation and documentary theater.

The production was created under the direction of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and was rehearsed for the premiere at the Cité Musicale Metz - until the lockdown in mid-March stopped the premiere. We are happy to finally open this production to the public on the main stage.

Under the baton of Donald Runnicles with the Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Yom Quartet as well as with Annie Hanauer, Stencia Yambogaza, Tarek Aït Meddour and Kamara Leyla Bamousso.
