Windfree: Emergency landing or go IFR lol

I called the wind at 15 but it was all of 20 mph.
The fog yesterday was SOOO thick that I couldn't see the ocean past the beach break so I knew what was rolling in at 20mph. Can't outrun that ha.
No way that I could've made the landing zone in thick fog conditions like that, no way!
I would have had to land where I was flying which is very-very dicey in those winds with a rudder-elevator only long winger, so I performed a panic exodus to the landing zone.

This one is 40 years old, is very coveted, and truly shouldn't exist for its experiences.
Been lovingly repaired a few times lol. Wings have never been broken, fuselage twice from the rocky, mountains of the Mohave Desert where there's some truly incredible slope soaring sites (and horrid landing zones) lol This landing zone is God given "incredible"!

I think this was good to show people. Poop happens and you must react.
(or stand sadly for hours at your worktable lol)
